Today, when I was having lunch with my bro and everyone
and my grandma came in and asked bro what he wanted to drink and bro said 'fashion fruit juice' and my grandma gave him a glass of passion fruit juice.
Why do maldivians say FASHION fruit?
If you say that to a foreigner they'll be so confused that they'll imagine a fruit with makeup on! Joking, but hey- a girl can dream can't she?
xD
The thought is crazy!
I mean, fashion fruit? Is it some kind of joke?
I know most of you will say "yeah, everyone knows that. its very common so i don't see any reason of writing a post about that unless you're a real maldivian."
But I'm not fully maldivan- yet.
Sometimes what I think is crazy I just write about it. Hope you won't say that anyway.
Or will you?

hehe, i used to tell everyone in the house to call passion fruit passion fruit coz saying fashion fruit sucks!
when the p sound is borrowed into dhivehi is usually changes to 'f'
eg. niyapothi (sinhalese) - niyafathi
ponka (sinhalese) - fankaa
police - fulus
parantha (hindi) - farata
arabic replaces the p with a b
peter - boutrus (boutrus boutrus ghali)
pepsi - bebsi
wiki has an article on 'sound changes' which u can read if interested. i found it too boring
